Ziricote… just the name by itself tickles the imagination. This wood from South America never stop to astonish me. Just take a look at it and you travel.

Once again, I just wanted to show the beauty of this dark wood. It is observing these strange drawings making me think to clouds, pushed by violent winds that the name of the lamp came, storm. You will probably need a bit of imagination, but the shape of this lamp seek to evoke two waves, facing each other…

The shape of the lamp is obtained by the bending technique. You constrain several pieces of wood to take a form. The risk of this technique is to break the wood. Although I really like this method, both because of technical challenge and also that you can get nice round shapes.

To stay coherent with the all, the base and the shade light are from the same wood. But, I though it might nice to oppose the round shape of the shade light with the clean and sharp lines of the base. At first, I was not really sure if the all would fit together, but I think it work well.

To go further with the originality of the lamp, four tiny transparent legs in epoxy resin are fixed underneath the base, to give a feeling that the lamp is standing on an air cushion.
